Guru Teg Bahadur, the 9th Guru, meditated for twenty-seven years before becoming Guru. He lived in a state of Sahej, and ultimately offered his life for the sake of religious freedom for all.  To experience the consciousness of Sahej, you can recite the Shabad, Jo Nar Dukh Mai Dukh Nahee Maanai, written by Guru Teg Bahadur, 11 times a day. Sit in a meditative space with a straight spine. As you recite this Shabad, feel yourself in a state of Sahej, where your identity and Truth merge and become One.

Over 500 years ago, a beautiful man was born in what is now India who understood this truth. His name was Guru Nanak. He spent most of his youth studying with spiritual teachers and practitioners of every tradition known in his day. He saw the Divine Light in everyone, and believed that our common brotherhood and sisterhood is the highest spiritual reality. In his early 30’s, Guru Nanak had his own enlightenment experience. In that state of ecstasy, Guru Nanak sang a song. The song he sang is known as Japji Sahib, the Song of the Soul. And Japji Sahib is a manifestation of the Shabad Guru.

So the Guru has given us the “word & shabad” so we can know how to balance the energy of our chakras and ten bodies; so we can overcome the “handicap hazard,” the misfortunes which are only a result of dips of depression in the flow of life. Amrit Peevo: the power of the mother’s prayer.  Recitation of this ancient prayer protects, heals, blesses, and watches over.  Just listening to the words invokes a powerful blessing. Yogi Bhajan said that the greatest power is the prayer of the mother. For those who don’t have children, you can focus on the child within yourself. To care for others, you must first care for yourself.

In the Aquarian Age there are no secrets! Information is available. Finding it is not the central task any longer…The greatest power will be your Word, your consciously projected words. The mind is changing its sensitivity, its basic frequency and functioning.

Our lifestyle is changing its sense of time, space, relatedness, and relevancy…We have always experienced change, but rarely with this intensity and speed and never with this scope and vastness. The change is on all levels of life at once. It is not sequential and orderly, nor is each step predictable. And it affects each one of us personally.

Khalsa Women’s Training Camp in the summer of 1983 was a revolutionary time for women in Sikh Dharma.  For the first time, SSS Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji set the roots of the Khalsa women of the west deep into the identity of Guru Gobind Singh and the path of the spiritual warrior.   What we discovered that summer is that, unlike what most of our mother’s had taught us, women are true warriors by nature.  It is in our psyche.   And as all Khalsa warriors, we found ourselves at the feet of the Tenth Master.

That summer the Siri Singh Sahib taught us the meditation we now call the Bowing Jaap Sahib.

The process to change a man out of his graveyard and to bring him to light is to rotate the stem of the brain which controls the vibratory continuous process of the intellect. The intellect gives you a thought on which intelligence is developed. The wisdom contains it and your human effort fulfills it. That is how the process works.  What happens when you read Gurubani and pronounce it right is that you can change your whole everything – if you want to change.
