Happy Birthday Yogiji!
Yogi Bhajan appeared in my life at the exact moment I needed him most in 1972. The unexpected death of my Dad in 1968 had plunged me into a quagmire of depression and drugs. Yogiji brought me and countless others in the West the magnificent teachings of Kundalini Yoga which inspired us to leave the drugs behind and lead a life of joy-filled service to others. The yoga was indeed awesome but it was his Divine sense of cosmic humor that captivated me the most.
It was at his meditation class at UMass Amherst in Feb 1972 that I had my first gut splitting belly laughs since my Dad’s passing. Yogiji spoke directly to my desperate condition in a way that absolutely doubled me over rolling in the aisles with laughter. It was as if my beautiful, fun and hysterically funny Dad had remanifested in this incredible new form. I’ve been on the Path ever since! Happy Birthday Beloved Teacher Ji!!! You saved me from an early ignominious end and I carry you lovingly in my heart with the deepest sense of gratitude forever!!
