My 3HO Family (A Poem by Shakti)

My 3HO family, who can describe what you are?
But I’d rather belong to you than anything else by far!

Yogi Bhajan gave me a name, saved me from my fate,
The Siri Singh Sahib brought me to the Guru, although he had to wait
Until my American ego, my limited intellect could simmer down
And get out of the way.

Then my soul could connect with the reality of the Name of God,
The power of the holy Naam,
Which Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji instructed me to meditate upon.

And so my friends and children, my brothers and sisters too,
Never despair, never give up, for if there is hope for me, there is hope for you!
The past is gone, let’s bury it deep and leave all the suffering behind.
There is nothing to do, there is no place to go; what we seek is beyond the mind.

So relax and rejoice.
There is really no choice
If we want to survive the eighties.
We may die, but we’ll never grow old–healthy, happy and holy yogic men and ladies.

I count my blessings and give thanks each day that God sent the Siri Singh Sahib Yogiji.
I don’t know what he means to you, but he means everything to me.

Shakti Parwha Kaur Khalsa was Yogi Bhajan’s first student in the United States. He gave her the title of Divine Mother of 3HO.  She started teaching Kundalini Yoga in 1969.
