MY NATURAL GIFTS
My natural gifts are leadership, counseling, and healing.
I am 67 years old. I was trained as a Registered Nurse and throughout my career, I have worked in hospitals and health clinics in the capacity of nurse, administrator, and counselor and have also been in private practice doing counseling. I was blessed to serve as the Siri Singh Sahib Ji’s private nurse and he gave me the unique title of “Spiritual Nurse.”
I was blessed to be directly under the Siri Singh Sahib Ji. I was also blessed to trust him and follow his instruction. I just did what he told me; I’m not saying it was easy.
The Siri Singh Sahib told me one day, early on, that the greatest weakness I came into this life with, was that I loved too much. “Loving too much” may sound like a good thing; it isn’t. This condition caused me and others pain and suffering. Loving too much can be very controlling, very chaotic, obsessive and neurotic.
Being a good listener is what heals. People heal themselves by having someone consciously listen to them.
Over time as I have become stronger within myself, I have learned to use my neutral mind and have compassion for myself. I try to stay out of the past, stay out of other people’s business, and trust that God takes care of our daily routines.
“Your word is powerful; it directs your mind. Live lightly; forgive all.” Siri Singh Sahib Ji
This is the craft I work at night and day. When I mess up, I keep trying. I forgive myself and I don’t look backward or forward; I drop it. Through contemplation, I work on making my mind, my servant.
I find it a helpful practice when I see my mind getting off track to do a meditation staring at the tip of the nose to develop the frontal lobe and intuition for 1-3 minutes.
I also use mantras. Those I find most helpful are: Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru, and the Teacher’s Oath: I am not a man, I am not a woman, I am not a person, I am not myself, I am a teacher.
I am so grateful for the many tools that the Siri Singh Sahib has given us to grow and glow. Relax and Rejoice. Life just gets better and better.
My recommended reading list:
The Mind Its Projections and Multiple Facets by Yogi Bhajan Ph.D. with Gurucharn Singh Khalsa, PhD
You Can’t Afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought by Peter McWilliams. (The Siri Singh Sahib kept the book on his table beside his chair, advising his students to read it thoroughly.)
Loving What Is by Byron Katie
