Learn to clear your mind to receive spiritual guidance whenever you need it.
The yogis spent thousands of years fine-tuning a practical system that can help us learn to use our amazing mind-computers to access our intuition. Using intuition, the choices we make can lead to real happiness in life. The same way we use a computer to connect to the internet, we can clear the mind of its chatter and connect to the Infinite, the God within. We have an electronic mouse to easily direct our computer to the internet, but we don’t usually have the training to use our breath and meditation to direct the mind. So instead of being able to access our inner guidance, we often find the landscape of our mind clogged with volumes of thoughts and feelings.

If you can practice these five things to forgive, you will find the Age of Aquarius extremely friendly. If you don’t—my prayer is you should, so you may not suffer. My prayer is that Ang Sang Wahe Guru (God is in every limb of me), the thirty trillion Gods living in you and dancing in you, may protect you, and that your radiant body may keep your radiance. God calls on you. Answer the call. God has made you, so be it. Today is one time that you can give yourself time and space to win the race in which you have to walk—the distance between you and your destiny.

Woodstock, through the eyes and words of Yogi Bhajan, gives us a unique view of what was important and a clear vision of the Woodstock nation and what it could mean. In 1972, as we built the Solstice encampment at Mendocino, California, he announced that he had come as the “father of the Woodstock Nation” to transform us into the “Steelstock Nation.” To him, Woodstock was a call for human dignity, independence, understanding, courage, and peace. The urge was there. The prayer was there. The capacity to sacrifice, in the face of great opposition and against the inertia of ignorance and vested interests, was there. All that was missing were the teachings, and he delivered those teachings to us, saying he didn’t want students. Instead, he wanted teachers. He wanted each person to love her Self, stand for his consciousness, and learn how to commit and sacrifice.

Amrit Peevo: the power of the mother’s prayer. Recitation of this ancient prayer protects, heals, blesses, and watches over. Just listening to the words invokes a powerful blessing. Yogi Bhajan said that the greatest power is the prayer of the mother. For those who don’t have children, you can focus on the child within yourself. To care for others, you must first care for yourself.

The water tattva is associated with the second chakra2 which holds the energy of creativity and the ability to see outside of ourselves. According to the Aquarian Teacher3 “the second chakra … correlates in how we relate to others. A person whose second chakra is balanced can exhibit these qualities: positivity, a relaxed mental attitude toward sexuality, patience, creativity, responsible relationships … From the yogic point of view, the experiences of the second chakra provide the first taste of merger of going beyond one’s isolated self; dissolving with, through and into another.

In the Aquarian Age there are no secrets! Information is available. Finding it is not the central task any longer…The greatest power will be your Word, your consciously projected words. The mind is changing its sensitivity, its basic frequency and functioning.
Our lifestyle is changing its sense of time, space, relatedness, and relevancy…We have always experienced change, but rarely with this intensity and speed and never with this scope and vastness. The change is on all levels of life at once. It is not sequential and orderly, nor is each step predictable. And it affects each one of us personally.

When I was 16 and graduating from high school, I went to Yogi Bhajan to talk to him about my future. I was enrolling in an education program to become a teacher and felt confident he was going to be very proud and supportive of my chosen career path. He looked at me sternly, but with a slightly smug smile and said, “A teacher? No! You are a business woman. Just accept this. Study business. It is your future.” And that was the end of it. Being stubborn, I enrolled in my Masters of Education program, convinced he would see that I was right. I was not a fan of the business world.
And as with everything he ever taught me, I had to learn he was right via the long route. And now, 17 years later, I am, as he foresaw, a business woman.

Cooking for Yogi Bhajan was a fun-filled experience. He travelled all over the world, and when he came to the Pacific Northwest, I would travel to whatever city he was in– Eugene, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver–and cook for him. And when I went to New Mexico in the summers, I would spend a large part of my time in the kitchen at the ranch (Yogi Bhajan’s residence). I learned to cook Indian food from Bibiji, Yogi Bhajan’s wife.

I always remain very grateful to the Guru for the opportunity to serve the Siri Singh Sahib ji-not only as a medical physician, but also by bringing comfort during difficult times. The Siri Singh Sahib ji would say to me, “You are my student, you are my doctor, you are my daughter, and a musician. And also, you are my friend.” My entire office knew that I was on call for him, and if I received a phone call from Espanola, they cancelled everything so that I could immediately leave to be with him.
