Excerpt from a lecture given on June 30, 1986
If woman knows the art of being a woman, then things cannot be that bad. But when a woman, instead of creating an electromagnetic field of which she can be proud to have the strength to contain, asks three questions: “What about me?” “Am I in control?” and “Where is my security?” she will freak out. It doesn’t matter how happy you are. Repeat those questions.
Students: What about me? Am I in control? Where is my security?
Yogi Bhajan: Now you should close your eyes and repeat these questions and see how miserable you can be. My intention to be with you and teach you is to make you practically understand what I am saying. So I want you to do homework. I want you to experience. I want to sit down and repeat these questions like a mantra.
I am just asking three questions. One person should undertake to call it loudly, and you close your eyes and meditate on this for about two, three minutes not more. That will be enough. So please close your eyes and repeat these questions.
Students repeat: What about me? Am I in control? Where is my security?
Yogi Bhajan: Okay, now open your eyes. Ask yourself how you feel. These are the three questions you can ask yourself anytime and feel miserable. Actually, the reality is if you are a woman, you are the only one who is the answer of these three questions.
The answer to ‘What about me’ is what about I am, I am.
Am I in control? That’s the second question. Within me I am the Universe.
Students: Where is my security?
Yogi Bhajan: Where is my security? God is my security.
Now take these questions and take these three answers and loudly repeat and see how you feel.
Students repeat: What about me? I am, I am. Am I in control? Within me I am the Universe. Where is my security? God is my security.
Yogi Bhajan: You have to realize and understand. Everything on this Earth is really a non-reality. You can have use of certain things and you may not have use of certain things, but you always have use of yourself. If you do not allow your artistic personality to fall apart, and you do not allow yourself to deviate from your scientific self-personality approach, there is nothing on this Earth which can defeat you.
Success does not come in playing games. Success does not come by making love. Success does not come by being intelligent. Success does not come by being wise. Success does not come by being good-hearted. Success does not come by being a giver. Success does not come by making sacrifice. For a woman there is no success if she does not have everlasting trust and the power to deliver it.
Understand the very basic need of you. If you want to be equal, you want to be human, you want to play games, then you will be played games. Your capacity for success within your own realm—forget about who helps you or who doesn’t—your realm of success is within your power to be trusted and then your power to deliver it.
