Conscious communication is called Turiya—when you are totally effective, totally understood and totally truthful. -July 23, 1982

Communication always has a purpose. Before speaking, the first law is: you must know why you are talking. You must know what you are communicating for. What do you want? -July 28, 1982

The greatest blunder I have seen that almost everyone makes is to just speak their mind. It doesn’t make any sense. They sound like the squawking ducks in a pond. The mind is not meant to be spoken. The mind is mostly waves of thoughts and sensations from many sources. The mind is meant to know the truth. Know your own mind and use it to speak the truth. -The Mind Book

Your value is nothing if you cannot honor your word. If you do not mean what you say, you are the most mean person on the Earth. -April 22, 1997

You should not say anything that you cannot put your totality behind. The total value of you is that whatever you say, you stick with it. When you don’t stick with what you say, you have no value, and your decoration and your jewelry and your sex and your person have no value. Real communication is the faculty of a human that whatever you say, you stick with it. –The Aquarian Teacher: Conscious Communication. Level 2 Transformation Practitioner

If your words do not have a smile, if you do not talk heart to heart, and you decide everything with your head, it is better to keep a dog as a friend rather than you. –April 22, 1997

Talk to everybody with reverence. Listen to everybody with reverence. Say things with reverence. You will always be happy and graceful. -August 8, 1975

What is the purpose of communication? There is one and only one purpose of talking. As there is one God, one humanity, one light, one planet Earth, there is one purpose of communication. It is to discharge your honest being. I am literally translating: “To discharge your honest being.” When you catch the honesty and communicate rather than carrying the other garbage with it, that is communication. The first purpose of life is to know where your honesty is. The second purpose is to know where your heart is. The third is to know where your head is and the fourth is to know your totality. Honesty is a totality. –Naad Yoga and the Art of Communication. Adapted from Beads of Truth, Winter 1983 #12

Talk passionately and act compassionately. The only thing you can do in your life to win the world is to be a kind speaker and a kind listener. That’s what makes the humankind. Kind listening and kind speaking. Passionately talk and compassionately act. -June 30, 1988

Never utter a word if it is not from your navel point and it doesn’t confirm your regal, highest self. -July 29, 1996

There’s a great blunder which we commit. Through communication, we try to control people…The fact is that nobody can control anybody. All you can do is flow. You can flow with each other, like rivers and streams flow with each other and they all end up in the same ocean. All things come from God and all things go to God. It’s a very simple formula which you have learned. –

Remember: the Word is God and God is the Word. You are what your words are. -August 25, 1978

In the beginning was the Word. It doesn’t say in the beginning was God. In the beginning was the Word because in the very beginning of every moment of time and space your word counts. Your whole destiny is written in the Word. -July 7, 1982

Your communication should not be for you. Your communication should be a service vehicle to reach the other person. Talking is for the other person. Listening is for you. -July 1, 1987

You only communicate to pass the time, or to express the emotions. Your tongue has to develop [the capacity] to speak consciousness. -July 1, 1987

The moment you understand that there is an essence of purity in you, you will realize reality. The moment you realize reality you will have royalty, and then you don’t have to say or do a thing. When your presence will work then you will emit wisdom. -July 27, 1996

Regardless of what we understand or do not understand, we are what we speak. That’s how we are known. -July 27, 1996

If people depend on me to be a man of truth, I have to prove again and again and again and again that I am a man of truth. It cannot be that on Monday I am a man of truth, on Tuesday I speak three-quarters truth, Wednesday I speak half-truth, on Thursday I speak one-quarter truth, on Friday I don’t speak at all, and on Saturday I can’t even think how to speak the truth. -July 3, 1982

The strength behind communication is in its quality, not in its quantity. Your talk should be that of quality, not of quantity. You should use small sentences which say a lot. Or you should say a lot in small sentences. -August 1, 1984

What you feel, what you desire and what you want is not what you are. You are a consciousness. Speak consciously and speak what your consciousness allows you to speak. -July 18, 1984

You don’t have to explain yourself. Let your weakness be yours. Let your strength be everybody’s. You understand the principle? -July 13, 1984

Why don’t you make your whole body into a string and play the music of the vibratory electromagnetic self, which is your creativity, and project to the heart of another person?  -July 5, 1984

If you give your word, let the entire Universe fall before you, but let your word stand. -July 4, 1984

Just remember, the language of gesture is more effective than the spoken word. Body language is very powerful. Bring the balance within you and project that balance. -July 3, 1984

In any communication, or in any situation which you cannot confront because it is exaggerating, hot or aggressive, just change your breath. Breathe through the lips instead of through the nostrils. Exhale always through the nostrils. Inhale through the rolled lips and make it slow and long. It will slow everything as required. It will increase your sensitivity. It will give you 10 times more projection over the person you are talking to. -July 3, 1984

One sacrifice has to be made: never use harsh or rude language. Foul language you can use; foul language doesn’t hurt. Foul language is forgivable (though it is bad). But rude language cannot be forgiven. -July 3, 1984

No one who is angry or shallow can repeat what they’ve said. The moment you ask a person to repeat, you have won the battle. You have put them on guard. So don’t reply angrily and don’t take any offense, just say politely, “Yes, I understand, but could you please repeat it?” With that, you have won. -July 3, 1984

Communication is a science as well as an art. What does speaking precisely mean? You are consciously communicating with another person at that person’s frequency, not yours. -Yogi Bhajan, July 23, 1982

The first law of social communication is whenever you meet anyone, exalt him or her. -July 22, 1982
