Sometimes we make it a habit to live with our habit. And when we make a habit to live with our habit, then we don’t want to change it. Then we make excuses. Then we need to go to a psychologist, psychiatrist, to friends. Then we need shoulders to cry on. Because once a human makes a habit to live with a habit, that human is done. Because to break a habit pattern, you need mind. To need your mind, you need Sadhana.
In your understanding and in your life comes ups and downs; sometimes you get confused, sometimes you get into your past habits—patterns, I call it. Those who live in their past will never have their future. Those who live in now, future will bless them.
We have two things in our body; frontal lobe and upper palate. We need to practice stimulation and control. These are two things in the body which are underdeveloped. And you can only develop them by imagination and by certain permutations and combinations of words with the tongue, so you can get the result.
Q. I’ve always heard that to improve a bad habit, you must replace it with a good one. Is this true?
A. No. First you must neutralize yourself.
Q. So then how do you establish the good habit?
A. Through meditation. First burn your bad habit pattern through meditation, and then you have to substitute it. Then you have the choice.
First you make habits and then habits make you. It’s a very old saying.
The personality of a human is controlled by the frontal lobe and the automatics are controlled by the hypothalamus. For the hypothalamus there is japa, and for the frontal lobe there is meditation. Kundalini Yoga expresses itself in that way. If you think that you are you, aha, not true. It is the set of the frontal lobe which controls your personality, and you will just do the pattern again, again and again, because that pattern is set. You cannot change the pattern by counseling and by this and that. You can break the pattern by rewriting it.
Our happiness becomes a pattern. If something suits that pattern we are happy, if it doesn’t suit we are unhappy, and this way sometimes we become a total slave of a habit. That is why they say man is a slave to his habits and as the years go by, his habits become his comforts.12/16/70
Your subconscious personality persuades you to many actions by 60%. Your conscious activity is 40%. Out of this, 25% is biases and prejudices. And 15% is the conscious mind.
The two most important things in your body are the upper palate which is the base of the hypothalamus, because the hypothalamus controls the entire nervous system, and the tip of the tongue, which affects the central nerve channel, Shushmana. The Shushmana is at the tip of the tongue and controls your total psyche.

Well, if you do not have control on your frontal lobe, you have no control on your mood, you have no control on your freakiness, and you have no control on your shallowness. Some people become very belittle. These are the people who have no connection with their frontal lobe. When you take the interlock of your eyes and you put it on the tip of the nose, the frontal lobe will start hurting; it will become like lead and after that, the pain will go away and you will see clarity you have never seen or enjoyed before.
There is a natural 40-day rhythm to habits in the body and mind. It takes about 40 days of consistent practice to break a habit. It takes about 90 days to establish a new habit in action in the subconscious. It is good to take these biorhythms into account when designing your practice.

Let us have a habit to relate through our consciousness, through the vibration that is Mantra. As a habit, that gives you happiness. When we are unhappy and we start chanting those words, they will give us peace. When we make that a habit, that gives us peace.
The frontal lobe has to be developed. It is not practical that you can achieve things if your frontal lobe is not developed.
If you engage your mind, you can be your real self, and you will realize happiness is your birthright. You will decide to at least try to drop your mind’s bad habits to be commotional, fearful, and limited. Try to engage your mind in sadhana. Try to get up in the early morning. Those who feel they love God are fine, but those who get up in the morning for sadhana, God loves them.
The Mind: Its Projections and Multiple Facets
You have two things which you have to develop. One is the frontal lobe, the other is the upper palate. Without developing them there is nothing you can do.
Look at the tip of your nose. The frontal lobe will become heavy like lead. That means it is opening.
There are two guiding instincts in man. He is either improving his future or blocking his future improvement. If you are conscious of this, and have an honest and sincere urge to improve the future, you will always have promoting habits. If you cannot care for God, at least care for the future.

If your frontal lobe, which is the master of the personality, is not developed, and your hypothalamus and thalamus do not come to your rescue, your personal habits are going to be messed up.
In your life, first you create habits, then habits create you. And today is a day when you can create a habit of meditation. Then meditation will make you intuitive, and intuition will solve your problems.
Simply know the truth—that your habits are controlled by the thalamus, hypothalamus. That’s what Kundalini is all about. Kundalini is medically well explained. It’s a simple science. Hypothalamus and thalamus have to be concurrent. They are not concurrent. And thalamus controls your automatic habits: habit to get up, habit to be alert, habit to be lazy, habit to be this, habit to be bad. And the frontal lobe controls your personality. It must be an alert frontal lobe. You call it third eye, you call it fourth eye; I don’t care. Call it anything, but the fact is it’s your frontal lobe.
This condition you are developing is called ‘Frontal Lobe Strength.’ It will help you anytime when you are very depressed, extremely negative, and you are topsy-turvy upside down. At that time you can close your eyes and get into that status. You will calm down inside out. It gives you your initial strength. You need that. You need that virtual strength of you—it’s called ‘elementary strength.’ Without this elementary strength no person can enjoy life. Your acts will not be fulfilling and the result will be sad. Concentrate, concentrate on your frontal lobe. You have to earn this strength. It is the strength of your intuition, it’s not something you can buy.
Suppose instead of devotion, an emotion becomes commotion and enters the subconscious mind. Then there is a problem. Then you have a pattern, a style of life. And then the pattern will govern you. Meditation is the art of breaking habits, in order to purify the mind and to take care of day-to-day things. These commotions become our pattern. We call them habits. First we create a habit, then the habit creates us. There is hardly any person who doesn’t get into a habit. And it is very difficult to break a habit. If there is a wrong habit, you have a lot of trouble.
One is the frontal lobe, the other is the upper palate: the hypothalamus and thalamus is over the upper palate. The upper frontal lobe controls your personality. If your personality and your hypothalamus is under your control, you are a well-disciplined person. What is the advantage of it? You will have an answer to every question. And then you will be trusted. You have to be trusted first, love later. You want to be loved first, trusted later. This doesn’t work.
Q. What does focusing at the tip of the nose do?
A. With the eyes nine-tenths closed, focus at the tip of your nose. After a while you will feel a tremendous lead-like sensation in the frontal lobe. The frontal lobe of the brain controls your personality. After a long period of daily practice, the sensation will be lighter and you will strengthen your elementary personality.
There are two parts of the body which have to be worked on through meditation. The frontal lobe of the forehead controls your personality. The upper palate of the mouth controls your autonomic systems. Whenever you meditate on the tip of the nose, the frontal lobe will become hard. As you meditate more, it will become like lead. And the funny thing is, one day automatically it will not be lead. It “breaks.” You will have intuition to see the unseen, know the unknown, and hear the unheard, and your life will not be the same as it is now.

“I am not loved,” it’s called inner emptiness and we all have that. Why? Because we do not control our frontal lobe. That is the part of the brain which holds the personality. We have all the automatic habits and that is controlled by the thalamus.
