Who is Shakti Parwha Kaur Khalsa

Shakti Parwha Kaur Khalsa, the “Mother of 3HO”, was Yogi Bhajan’s first student in the United States. She went on to make a huge contribution to the phenomenal world-wide growth of Kundalini Yoga. Her books have been read by many and countless beginners have benefited greatly from the teaching techniques which she helped pioneer and propagate.

Soon after she met Yogi Bhajan in 1968, he told her that she had been a student long enough; that she should be a teacher, and that he had come to “train teachers, not to gather disciples.”

She acted as his personal assistant, secretary and chauffeuse and within 2 months she was teaching Kundalini Yoga at YMCAs. She took many notes at his early classes, notes which would later be printed as “Sadhana Guidelines”.

Her stories with Yogi Bhajan are one of the beautiful memories that we have about the beginnings  of 3HO and Sikh Dharma in the west. She tell this vivid experiences with Yogi Bhajan in such a real and simple way, that we can relate with the greatness and humbleness of the Siri Singh Sahib and how he create the greatest spiritual transformation in the XX century.

 

Shakti Parwha Kaur Khalsa is the author of the popular Kundalini Yoga: The Flow of Eternal PowerHer newest book, Kundalini Postures and Poetryis a unique album of photos of the Master of Kundalini Yoga with commentary in verse. Shakti was Yogi Bhajan’s first student in the United States and has been teaching Kundalini Yoga since 1969.

She has being a prolific author, with many publications about Kundalini Yoga and its lifestyle. She is knowed for her simple and down to the earth approach to spirituality and inspire many with her classes and experience.
